  Friday 21 September, disabled 86 year old Beryl Baddely 2 Woodland Close WV12 5NA told neighbour Colin Legge @ 08:!5 am she had no sleep last night and was frightened to get into bed. The reason was she heard a noise and did not know where it came from. I found that the smoke alarm batteries had failed. I reported this to an excellent lady at Bloxwich Fire station, she took my shaky details and wrote on the paper Urgent attention of the Station Commander, they were out on other fire business. I informed Beryl not to worry, I left my Mobile number, and spent the day at Bridgnorth returning home about 15:40 I received an excellent phone call shortly after, and Colin and Mike arrived, tested every alarm , and Mike advised that an alarm was needed in the bedroom upstairs, he installed this and they both explained to Beryl and myself exactly how to call them in any emergency. The call button on the chain round Beryls neck would alert the emergency services if needed. Beryl and myself wold like to extend our grateful thanks not only to these two gentlemen, but also the lady in the office and all the Fire Crew personnel at Bloxwich Fire Station, they are a credit to the service.
